3 Phases of Campaign Management
We approach a campaign in 3 phases:
1. Community Assessment Planning Study
Prior to embarking on a capital campaign, we recommend that you seek feedback from your community and network to fully understand both their interest in the project and the availability of financial resources to support it. This is accomplished through a Community Assessment and Planning Study (CAPS), which will:
- Test your community’s understanding and buy-in of your project
- Identify the availability of volunteer leaders
- Assess the community’s capacity to give financially
- Determine the most suitable timing to run a campaign
2. Planning Phase
The next phase will be customized to the needs of your organization, based on the findings from the CAPS.
During the typical Planning Phase, key planning and leadership recruitment activities commence. Supported by a planning team including key organizational leadership and volunteers, TDG provides project management including:
- Developing recruitment strategies for key leadership volunteers
- Oversight of the creation of all preliminary campaign materials / documents
- Guiding the organization in the development of the Campaign Plan
- Early identification, validation, rating and screening of potential donors may also commence
3. Active Campaign Phase
This phase includes the day-to-day management and strategic direction of the campaign both in the quiet phase and the active community phase. TDG provides leadership in the execution of the plan and ongoing coaching and consulting, including:
- Active cultivation of donations, pledges and grants, focusing on both internal and external donors and prospects
- Oversight of the development of all campaign communications and marketing activities
- Volunteer management including recruitment, training, deployment and guidance
- Management of the campaign office and support and guidance to the campaign team
- Coaching, guiding and mentoring staff
