Sarah McMahon

Senior Consultant

“It is a privilege to work collaboratively with passionate people to create plans and strategies for their organization as they work to reach their full potential. Each not-for-profit is different and so are their aspirations, challenges and solutions. It is an environment of continuous learning with the added bonus of knowing that you have played a role in benefiting the community in which these organizations do their work on a much broader scale.”

Sarah grew up in Quebec’s Eastern Townships and attended the University of New Brunswick where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in marketing. After working in sales for Johnson & Johnson for two years, Sarah’s career shifted to the world of independent boarding schools where she spent 26 years in schools in Canada and the U.S. She joined the Lakefield College School Leadership team in 1999 as Director of Admission. In this role, she attracted and solidified relationships with hundreds of families, travelling world-wide as she recruited and enrolled students. She was responsible for the marketing program and oversaw the distribution of the school’s extensive financial assistance program.

In 2008, Sarah shifted her position to the LCS Foundation where she led the fundraising program, alumni affairs and communications. For the interim period of 2010 -2012 Sarah became Lakefield’s first female Head of School and the CEO of the LCS Foundation. Sarah remained CEO of the LCS Foundation until 2016 where she led a team that raised $33M in four years, increased the school’s endowment to over $30M and more than tripled alumni donor participation.

In addition to her work in admissions and fundraising, Sarah has experience in strategic planning, governance, volunteer management, marketing and communications.

TDG welcomed Sarah to the team in 2017 as a Senior Consultant, benefiting from her leadership and expertise with our regional and national campaigns.

Sarah is an active volunteer serving on the Board of Directors at the Morton Community Healthcare Centre and as a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
